Buyers Products- Receiver Hitches for Towing and Cargo Control
There are various classes of receiver hitches. You can choose a receiver hitch depending upon your trailer weight and its tongue weight. Receiver hitches are used with weight distributing hitches.
The Class I and Class II receiver hitches are used for trailers with Gross Weight of 5, 000 lbs or less and Class III receiver hitches are used for the trailers weights above 5, 000 lbs. The class III receiver hitch attaches to your ATV and allows the use of a 2" hitch bar. The receiver hitch greatly increases the towing capability of your ATV without damaging the factory hitch. The receiver hitch has easy bolt-on installation.
While your vehicle may have certain tow ratings, remember you must have a compatible receiver hitch that can handle the same specifications. To ensure safety, you may have to install extra towing equipment or towing package.
Towing packages include the trailer hitch receiver mounted to your ATV along with a draw bar which is a separate assembly on which the hitch ball is mounted. The draw bar then slides into the hitch receiver on the tow vehicle and is secured with a locking pin. The front part of the trailer that hitches to the tow vehicle is referred to as the tongue. At the end of the tongue is a coupler into which the hitch ball is inserted and secured.
